The Folsom Criterium is a very fun event, and is held less than 5 miles from where I live. It’s always been one of my favorite local races, because my family, and our friends usually come out watch, and the course is definitely one for sprinters. Last year at the 2013 edition of this race, Willie Meyers won, I was second, Jared Kessler third, Chuck Hutcheson fourth, and Josh Carling sixth. We were all on different teams last year (except Willie and Chuck), but this year we were racing together. Not a bad feeling to know that you are now teammates with 5 of the top 6 in the same event a year prior. We worked well together all race long, getting into breaks and initiating moves (Willie did a lot of that), and the race came down to a field sprint. With a few to go we got ourselves organized, and moved up to front. Josh, Chuck, Willie, Jared, Ariel, and Nate took control of the race with me in tow.
They executed the lead out to perfection, and I was able to seal the deal with the win.
