After a few weeks on the East Coast the Brick City Crit was my last race before heading back west. The purse was pretty decent and I desperately needed some money to make it home. After a few attacks and counters I realized that nothing was getting away for a while so I just sat around near the front and waited for the fireworks to begin. Around 15 laps to go a few attacks went clear and ended up being a 10 person break with all the teams represented…except Marc Pro – Strava. At 8 laps to go the Gap was over 20 seconds and I knew it was now or never so I attacked on the uphill and went clear with only my good friend Steven Vogel coming with me. The next few laps Steven and myself put everything into the chase knowing one of us would win if we could get up to the break. We made contact going under the start finish line with one lap to go and went straight up to the front with me pushing my way onto the Team Finish Strong lead out and Vogel on my wheel. The Finish Strong sprinter lit it up headed into the 2nd to last corner with me glued to his wheel, I came around after the final corner and had time to post up and enjoy the win. I walked away with 400 bucks which meant I had enough money to gorge myself on Taco Bell and make it home.
