So about two weeks ago I contacted my old coach Jesse Moore to see if he had any connections to teams that may be looking for a rider for the Tour of Utah. He got back to me fairly quick and let me know that he was trying to get me on the Cal Giant team for the race as a guest rider. Within about a week he officially offered me the invite for the race and I thought to myself, “sure why not go test myself against the best and spend a fun filled week in the pain cave in scenic Utah?”
So here I am, in a nice team rented condo in Sandy just waiting for the fun to begin. Phil Mooney and I went for a nice easy spin and some breakfast this morning and now I’m doing the typical stage race routine…..whole lotta nothing. So far the crew (Jesse Moore, Phil Mooney, John Bennett, Julian Martinez, and Sid Taberlay) has a good vibe and hopefully we can muster some good results against a really tough field. We’ll see….my first NRC race….should be interesting and one heck of a learning experience.
